Hey, and welcome to this article about how to setup your Cyclo DS properly, we are going trough this process step by step.

Images will be added soon and before you start you will want to charge the battery of your NDS (lite).


[edit] Connecting to your computer (Windows XP / Mac OSX)

I'm going to describe this process in easy to follow steps


1. Stick your Micro SD into your card reader (supplied with your cyclo ds) and put it in an USB port.

  • Special Note: If you have one of the included aluminum card readers, make sure you insert the card with the label facing the same way as the CycloDS logo on the card reader. If you have a older aluminum reader without the CycloDS logo, insert the card with the label facing the transflash logo.

2. Wait for a Windows message pop up (You dont have to install anything) and click "Open in Windows Explorer" (or something similar).

  • For Mac, just wait for the card icon to appear on your desktop, double-click it to open it

3. The popup should disappear and a new window pops up (or for Mac, you'll just have a window open after double-clicking the card icon), this is the root of your Micro SD card this is where we are going to put the files in, before you continue to the next step you should download the latest firmware here: Support or here., and you might also want to download moonshell Support or here

4. Now you have the latest firmware you want to unzip it (using Winzip for Windows or Unarchiver for Mac) and put the "update.evo" file on the root of your Micro SD card we just opened, if you downloaded Moonshell drag the moonshl folder to the root as well. (Please do not extract it to the card, extract it to your HD, and then drag it to the card.)

If you want to put games and homebrew on it now proceed to step 5.

If you want to install the firmware, and add games later on go to step 6.


5. Putting games and Homebrew on your CycloDS is as easy as drag and drop. You might want to create two different folders called Games and Applications. You put your games into the Games folder and applications in the Applications folder (how surprising).

  • Special Note: Do NOT put any games or applications into the CycloDS folder on your card. That is a system folder used to store configuration data, skins, cheats, etc.

6. Lets get on with installing the firmware. Pull your card reader out of your computer and take the microSD or microSDHC out, gently push it into the CycloDS card (the microSD or microSDHC card label should face the oppsite direction of the CycloDS label), and stick it into your NDS. Boot up your NDS and tap Cyclo DS (you might want to set autoboot slot 1 to on, which can be done by configuring the NDS itself). Follow the instructions on the screen and wait for the Firmware to be installed, a confirmation message should pop up, reboot your NDS now and watch the beautiful GUI :-)
